Iooked at a large branch on my psycho white and thought that it was getting very overgrown and heavy and that I should remove some of the leaves the next day. The next day, however, the branch removed itself- what a mess. Had to remove all the leaves and inflos and cut up the main branch (4" diameter). This is the second time I did not act on my instincts and got broken plants for my hesitation.

Oh my gosh bill! I hate to see that! In would be so upset.
You know better than anyone that psycho will bounce back in no time.

Ooh, that's terrible, Bill! Like a whole tree fell off! I'm sorry you have to deal with the mess of trimming leaves. Hopefully the pieces will root this time of year anyway.

That's a branch, Bill? Heavens that looks more like a tree! Im sorry it happened, but I have great faith you will find good and creative things to do with the cuttings. Mary

Hey Bill,
Sorry to see and hear about your Psycho, guess it got crazy and tried to run away on its own.
I guess this must be the year for falling plumie limbs as I read MJ's post now yours and I had a huge branch snap and break off one of my huge plumie trees.

Well as psycho blooms profusely I hope you will barely notice the limb missing, as the blooms will hopefully distract you.

Just awful! Looks like Psycho had its own ideas about being pruned! At least this gorgeous tree is in your hands! It's living up to its name :)

It is a bummer. More like a nightmare to me...

Didn't Bud have a huge tree break last year at his open house?

Astri, psycho is around 13 years old and this was just one sixth of the tree. I was going to cut it in the fall anyway because it was blocking the lawn mower. Now I do not have to duck to get to my north hedge. However, one of the cuttings is so big with about thirty tips that I could barely carry it. The other two have 15 and 18 tips so the branch had over 60 branches.
Laura, Bud did have I think his Saigon Moon break two gigantic limbs.
I think I will go down to the Aquatic Center and plant all 3 cuttings and the limb and see if they root this fall. Bill

What a disaster Bill!
Makes me want to cry and know I would have if it had been mine.
I'm sure it will make more beautiful trees in no time.
