Should be fine. Keep them watered. Store in a protected area over the winter. i put ground up leaves around mine with a very thin layer on top. The roots are the most susceptible over winter.

the hundreds of hosta peeps in the hosta forum would probably tell you to wait until spring ..

hosta are supposed to be hardening off for winter .. especially in our z5 ...

cutting and putting them into fresh soil. can cause them to flush into vigorous growth.. using the energy they stored for next spring ...

if you spend that energy.. then what will they come out of the ground with ....

they will live.. but they will be significantly smaller next year ...

Well, they aren't being re potted every year,sorry if my post made it seem that way. They were are supposed to be put into new landscaping this past spring but due to personal illness I missed the entire spring season.

I was mainly wondering if they would be alright until next spring as they are now or if they should be re potted now. Should have followed my instincts and realized they are fine to go into winter as is and re plant next spring into the new beds.
