I am not the expert but after reading your questions few thoughts come to mind. What zone do you live in..I'd guess to do a rooted out door cutting you;d have to be in a very warm climate...
And 2 Sedum A/J has been on of the easiest plants for me to propagate by seeds and dividing. i have not done cuttings. But I;ll guess it;s just as willing there too.

You could do cuttings inside in perlite if you are in a colder zone like me.

I had a blooming stalk break off one of my plants about a week ago. I took it indoors and put it in a vase with water, and now it has roots, and it is still flowering. Super easy.
