Just had to go peek, even though I've been trying to stay away from the dealers because I know I need to go cold turkey until spring, or at least until I get all my paraphenalia ready for winter. But it's like they're on every corner and it's just too easy to succumb to the addiction. LOL

IF that's the same Typhoon I saw at JJ's then I did not detect any scent. No matter how beautiful the flowers are, if no scent then it doesn't get to come home with me.

Lynn - you were the first one I thought about when I saw what Brad wrote about the scent. :)

LOL... I don't know why but for me w/out the fragrance I would grow bored with it. It's the scent that keeps the love affair going for me. I have passed up on so many beauties b/c I couldn't smell anything.

I noticed that JJ's carries a Typhoon. Don't know if it's the same one offered by Brad. If it is then I'll pass as well since I'm such a scent nut. Laugh.
If you have a chance to sniff JJ's Xanadu then go for it! Thanks to Mona my JJ's Premium Yellow just might be Xanadu. It has a wonderful, perfume like scent that is amazing. It's currently my fav! :)

I just noticed this post and though it is older, I thought I'd reply to it. The Typhoon that we sell is NOT the same as what JL is selling. My Typhoon was a discovery of Dr. Kukiat Tanteerartam in Thailand and I am still the only person importing it at this time, to the best of my knowledge. It is unfortunate that sometimes names cross over and get duplicated like they do--but with the mind-numbing number of new plumies each year, it's really no surprise. Also, I tend to list scents pretty generically except when I find one that is particularly fragrant. Our Typhoon is very fragrant. As many of you remember there was a discussion on here a while back about Gold Coast Peach. I was the one that first imported and sold this plant from Australia (I also registered it with PSA). I also brought peoples' attention to the fabulous scent. Those that have smelled it will agree, it is fabulous. Just so you know whenever I make a little more over a certain plumeria's scent, it is for good reason. If I were to mislead someone into buying a not-so-fragrant plant by labeling it as a really good one, that would only hurt my business when the truth was dicovered. We try very hard to be honest in such matters. So, once again, JL Typhoon is not the same plant as our Typhoon. If any of you should have questions about these things in the future, please email us and we will gladly help you out. For you scent people out there, there are quite a few stunners out there. One of my fave Thais is Bangkok Fire (AKA Daeng Maha Chok). Not only is it brilliantly colored with orange and red, but it has among the most unique and best fragrances of the Thai cultivars. I can't even describe it except to say it is unique and very, very strong. Hopefully we'll have them again next season--they don't last long for good reason.;-)

Hmm..that's a difficult one for me as I have so darn many. Typhoon is not in my Top 5, but it is definitely among my very fragrant ones. I would have to say the top 5 (so far) for me are: Singapore White, Bangkok Fire, Gold Coast Peach, Phet Pachara, and Betty Jean (a seedling I have not released yet--a 4" red, gold and orange flower that smells like really strong peaches and spice.).Trying to figure out the next 5 would be madness since there are so many I love. Thai Tornado and Typhoon are both very nice, Gee Petch also has a very sweet fragrance. Waimea has an excellent perfume--and so on....anyway, I would need to really get out in the grove and get better notes since I am winging this off the cuff from on-the-spot memory. LOL

The Daeng Mang Mee seeds I bought from you didn't make it. For some reason I do not have a knack for seedlings. I'm not going to give up though! I now have a heat mat so maybe that will make the difference.
