Sounds like a plan. Here's hoping it won't take 6 months. Maybe 3? They may be gone by then because you will constantly sample. Is 2 habaneros enough? Throw in a few garlic cloves too.

I don't know the answer to your question, but would consider replacing the factory brine with new cooked, with the habaneros, then cooled brine to speed the process. Six months is a long time to wait watching a delicacy in the refrigerator.

I know from experience that 1/4 habanero is right for flavoring 19 oz of Chicken Corn Chowder. For 1 gallon, this would be 1.68 habaneros. Rounding to the nearest whole habanero, 2 habaneros is my estimate for flavoring 1 gallon of pickels.
