I stop fertilizers in September and only use seaweed extract and something like Pro-tekt or Armor Kote to harden up the plants for winter. I find that fertilizing into the fall causes green growth which is more prone to have problems with cold, blacktip or other health issues when colder. The silicon in those two products plus the 0-0-3 helps strengthen the plants for environmental stress. This seems to really work well when you have hot days and cold nights in fall. If I lived in Texas or places with triple digit temperatures I would use these products all season as they also help plants deal with heat.

I typically stop granular and foliar fertilizing at the end of September or the first week in October at the absolute latest. If you really just have to...you could do one last feeding since you aren't putting yours away until Thanksgiving and it would probably be ok.

The good news is you have your supply of F.P. for the spring.

I am going down today, and will stay for the next 10 days. I think I will spray them, they have not received any fertilizer so far this year. I need to make some of my special K mix, and plant my new plumeria. I think the broomstick is going to be a tall. I just love the month of October at the coast. I will take lots of pictures to share.
