1) Larger Mature cuttings tend to root more readily then smaller ones, so Id leave it as a whole cutting. You may be able to cut up the cuttings and graft them if you have root stock to graft it to. Clare Corre lives in Camarillo near Las Posas Berries. If you contact her she maybe able to help you graft and she has a ton of exotic varieties of Plumeis from Thailand, India and all over.

2) It may not be too late to root it but Id start sooner then later. As it is a large cutting you may not need to really let it heal as long, 3 days maybe enough just use rooting hormone or a rooting gel. The wind storm hit my patch on Wed night and my Hilo Beauty had several large brances break off from other trees falling on her.

3) Rooting hormone is it.

If your plumie is a red variety you may want to graft it as Reds are temperamental, especially this time of year.
