Hi Abbie. Thanks for your inquiry. No, the walls are not made of smoked glass and yes, light still comes through. The material used is called Kalwall. It is used often in skylights and is made with fiberglass, lightweight and extremely tough. The shoji screens on the door are made of a rice paper laminate. Isn't the project fabulous? Our clients were very pleased with the result.
