I was desperate for some carribean seasoning peppers this spring so I ordered some from chiliplants.com. Most of them have been exactly what I expected, so I kind of lost my caution tasting them.
I picked the first ones off of the Grenada Seasoning pepper plant today. I removed their stems, split one and noted that unlike the other seasoning types this one only had a few seeds and popped half of it in my mouth. I was thinking for a few seconds that it had an interesting citrusy flavor when I was hit with heat the likes of which I canÂt even describe. IÂm still tearing up and my nose is running 2 hours later.
Here are pictures of a ripe one and a green one. I'm not sure what they are but after looking at pictures of the grenada seasoning peppers online and tasting one, I know that's not what they are. Almost looks like an orange bhut cross.
I've emailed chiliplants about it, we'll see if it was a mislable or if they know they had some crossed seeds.
Learned my lesson about tasting new peppers for this year...
