Moss roses in New Orleans?

I've never seen one, which is why I want one, but which is also why I suspect I shouldn't get one; sometime when you Never See Something in your area there is a Good Reason (as in it Will For Sure Shootin' Die.)

Anyone know anything on this topic? I'd grow it in a pot.
