I usually will seperate new minis I plant too!. The growers do that to make the plant look fuller when it's sold.

May I ask are we talking about grocery store mini's? They had some at our grocery for Valentine's Day which is pretty much the only time of year they do. I did look at them and must admit I was tempted. If I thought I could successfully separate them like that I would go back and but one or two.

There are eight there - four are from the supermarket valentines bunch which inevitably die as people don't want to look after them after the day lol, and I found the other 4 at a garden center. The roots were a real pain to get separated, but they were all healthy and I don't think much damage was done. Its been a couple of days and I've not seen any ill effects from the repots. Not even wilting leaves.
