Jeanne LaJoie
A friend gave me a whiskey barrel with 4 roses that appear to be Jeanne LaJoie (from looking at websites and trying to identify it). My friend just called it a "pink cascading rose". She cut it back severely every spring, but never did anything much to it and it never bloomed alot.(I've been watching this barrel for years with much curiosity!) I know nothing about minis, but gave 2 to another friend, kept two in the barrel, cut them back and fertilized them (this was probably in June), they went berserk growing and blooming. The canes grew very long, which was when I began to suspect it was a climbing mini! I have kept it in my barrel, wondering what to do with it. I will have several bamboo tripods with vines in my garden this summer and wondered if it would look pretty to put a bamboo tripod in the barrel and let them grow over it. What do you think? I wondered if two per barrel is too crowded? At the moment it looks okay to me. Also, how do I prune them?
