The best mini roses I have gotten have come from The Uncommon Rose and also all that I have gotten from www.rosemania.com have been excellent as well. I just did place my first order with NorEast this year, so I hope those do well....??? I have also gotten some from Tiny Petals that did well, some of those come pretty small as well though.

My favorite is still Tiny Petals Nursery which has moved to Nevada.

I'm new, and decided to go with Tiny Petals based on someone from here. Unfortunately, I got my package, and it had been completely mixed up with someone else's order! But the owners were so kind, and fixed it right away, and even gave me the ones I got as a gift. Their 'informational pamphlet' is also well done, and even suitable for younger kids!

Of course, one of the bonuses is a floribunda, and I was really only prepared to experiment with mini's, so this'll be a fun summer, hmm? They all look like pretty healthy plantlings to me, though.

I've ordered from both Nor east and Uncommon with great results.
If Chamblee's has the variety you want, they have very healthy roses in one gallon containers that give you a great head start.
Although they donÂt have many minis Antique Rose Emporium sells theirs in two gallon containers. I bought some RiseÂNÂShine last year that are fantastic this year.
Over all I like Uncommon Rose the best!

The vedors you mentioned generally send healthy plants, even if on the small side. I recommend you repot your newly arrived minis into 1-gal pots and let them establish a better root system before planting them out into the garden. Mailorder minis are generally grown in a greenhouse and need time to adjust to your particular climate. I would also suggest you avoid using potting soil that has fertilizer mixed into it. It could prove to be too much too soon.

Excellent suggestions...I looked up this forum because I tried twice last year to grow Minature roses and failed miserably on both counts so I'll lurk here and read a little while and see if I can "learn to love again"..LOL.
Also,you mentioned 1 gallon pots..how many would you plant in a 1 gallon pot and do you use plastic pots or clay??? I'm reading that plastic pots allow the soil to heat up to much and is bad for plants....agree? Ideas? Thanks

Nor'East, Uncommon Rose and Sequoia Nursery which I'm surprise that no one has mentioned. Mr. Ralph Moore's nursery, Sequoia, has a bit better price for best quality roses than others.

I am trying minis for the first time and was extremely surprised with the bare root minis I got from Edmunds. Huh, these are minis. The roots were huge. I ended up having to cut some of them down a few inches because I couldn't make the mountain as high as I needed it to be. It kept falling down.

I don't grow a lot of minis but love the ones I've bought from Vernon Rickard at Almost Heaven Roses in NC. He is a breeder and exhibitor and has some fantastic ones, especially Nancy Jean, named after his wife. It is a deep amber, beautiful form, holds its color in sun, and blooms all the time. Mine grew to about 3'x2' last year.

The place i get my minis is from Vernon Rickard Almost Heaven Roses He has some great new varities this year like Buttercream and another one i got was Elegant pink beautiful color and is good for exhbiting.

Fivenot, I plant one mini in each gallon pot. I do use the plastic ones and as was said on one of the other threads, I leave them in the gallon pots until I see roots coming out the bottom. Be sure to keep them well watered, no saucers-we put ours up on bricks, and after several days in a shady spot, move them to full sun. Get a potting soil that has no plant food in it and don't feed them until they have had their first set of blooms. They are very forgiving and should do well for you.

I would definitely recommend Almost Heaven Roses. I received 5 from him this spring that were huge with great canes. They are growing and blooming beautifully.

I would highly recommend Bridges Roses. My plants arrived in 2 days, very healthy, beautiful long stems, great foliage. Cal Polly came in a full bloom. Cannot say that about the roses I got from Heirlooms. These look significantly smaller and weaker.
