They look lovely, Juju! But as I've said before, you are the exception because most times roses will not survive if kept indoors. You must have just the right conditions for them and a powerful green thumb!

Wow, beautiful and encouraging. I am wondering about moving my roses in for the hottest part of the summer, July and August here in Phoenix. I also like seeing the whole bush to get an idea of pots and shape. Thanks for sharing

Now that spring is here, I can confidently say that I succeeded in keeping my mini roses alive through winter inside as well ^.^ Though mine do not look nearly as healthy as yours, they are still alive and kicking. I live in an apartment and got them as a gift from my boyfriend so I didn't want to throw them out. I'm hoping now that I know a bit more about them, I can take better care of them through the summer.

Your roses are lovely. I got a supermarket rose the last three Mother's Days. I've had great success with them, separating out the original cuttings and potting into small pots until they begin to show new growth. Mostly I put them into the ground, and if they don't survive the winter, I figure I've still had a nice season of pleasure from them. I never got around to putting them in ground last summer, and they survived and bloomed under lights in a cool basement for me.

Seil - I am in 5A, Northern Indiana. I am a member of the CCRS as well as my local society. I ordered some of the minis last summer from Tennessee and kept them in large barrel containers ; however they did not winter over successfully. I know you believe in putting them in the ground, but unfortunately, I had no luck with that either I know you have stated that you have some container roses. What am I doing wrong, or like big roses, am I trying to accomplish something that will not grow in my zone? Thanks for any help. I did not know your email address. Barb

Hi Barb! I do grow and winter roses in pots. The best way to winter them is inside an insulated but not heated garage. However, I don't have a garage so I do mine outside. I place all the pots together on the south wall of my house and wrap the lot in burlap. Then I STUFF the whole thing with leaves. Tons of them! You have to pack the leaves down in between the pots and on the tops as deep as you can. For the first 5 or 6 years I had barely any losses but I have to say that the last two were much more severe and I lost quite a few even with all the protection. It's always chancy at best.
