I don't know how it will work for roses. What ever you use it must drain very well or the roots will rot and the rose will die. If it's a good draining mix try it and see how they do. If they start to look stressed I'd get some kind of good quality potting soil and re-pot them right away.

Do not try to grow them inside! Roses are NOT house plants and they will not be happy and will probably die.

You don't say what zone you are but if you are in zone 7 or less you will have to winter potted roses in an unheated garage or they will not survive. If you are in zone 8 and warmer they should be OK outside all winter depending on the weather. If you are going to get a hard freeze you should protect them in the garage for that time period.

Thanks. I'm in zone 8, Charleston, SC. I potted the roses up this morning. I did 3 in the pine mulch, peat, sand mix and the other 3 I put in MG potting soil, moisture control. I'll see how they do and compare them to each other. Hopefully they will be ok, they came out of the mailing box looking a bit dry and yellowish.
