A few alfalfa pellets could be used, but make sure they don't contain salt (the ones made to feed rabbits usually do).

I dump some of the alfalfa tea sludge on my potted roses (including minis). I can't say what if anything it does for them. They look healthy either way.

I personally would not put it on newly potted roses.
