Maybe "rosekateer" (or something like that)

Definately not "Rosekateer". It has a white center and has just 5 petals. Also it has not been for sale "for years" like you stated.

Your photo appears blurry to me so if you could give a discription of the color etc. that might help ID it.

If it is bright orange with a yellow center it could be "Pumpkin".

There is no yellow or white just solid orange red, yellow stamens.

Is it because of heat that this rose has fewer petals than normal??

My computer isn't running well today, look up California Heart at the middle pic and also Tiny Petals at HMF. Closet I can come. When it's really hot roses have fewer petals than usual and your first pic of this rose shows it with more petals.

If it is showing a slightly deeper lavender blotch at the base of each petal, then you may have 'Halo Today'.
