I transplated it from the azalea to the mailbox. It wasn't getting any direct sunlight there...although it was growing very vigorously. Probably a bad time for tranplant, so I hope it makes it. Only had three LARGE fat roots. Treated it for blackspot with Immunox and gave it a little Miracle Grow Rose and Bloom.

Do you know if there was a rose in that area at some time in the past? Might be Dr. Huey, which is commonly used as a rootstock. It is a climber and it is a once bloomer.

One of the Original Canes was extremely thick (2 inches or more in diameter). So I assume it was there for more than a short while. I pruned it away as there were no budding portions growing from it. Its got a bit of black spot, which has been a real problem in my yard, I hope the Immunox kicks in after a few applications. Some of the new growth has gotten a little droopy and the buds didn't like the transplant too much. Been giving it about two gallons of water a day at the base.

You could cut it back right now to prevent it from wilting so much. It is not going to bloom again until next year anyway, so you would be doing it a favor. It is a once-bloomer and cutting it back would help it adjust in the heat and be in time for the bloom it would put on for next year.
