Repeat Bloom White Climbing Rose ?

Hello,

Last summer I went to a nursery in Fresno, CA and saw a white climbing rose that is a repeat bloomer with a great fragrance. Unfortunately I can't remember the nursery to call them to ask the name of the rose, which I have forgotten. I just remember the rose was an open petalled rose 2.5 to 3 inch diameter. My kiwi aren't doing well and I thought I would plant several climbing roses on the trellis instead. I think the rose had two names - something like Judy... or Madame.... my memory could be incorrect though.

If anyone has experience growing this rose or any other repeat blooming fragrant white or lite colored roses that like the heat I would love to know. Thanks in advance.

hello all,

I just remembered the name of the rose - it was Sally Holmes!!! - Has anyone grown this one? Or do you know of another one that is a fragrant repeat bloomer?

Linda, head over to the Antique Roses forum and post a message asking about Sally - several folks there grow it, and most of them rave about it. I remember that they've warned that it can get huge, though.

Somebody on another rose forum said that there is a new double-flowered sport of Sally Holmes named "Sherlock Holmes."

Cecilia, thank you - I probably wouldn't mind something getting huge here because we are turning cow pasture into landscaped areas and need things that grow fast. I figured if I could get something to grow on my kiwi trellis then the trellis wouldn't be wasted - we get too much wind here for kiwi to thrive.

I'll go over to antique rose forum thanks.

Sally Holmes is a wonderful rose. If you have the space I would recommend it.
