seed saving questions

I want to keep seeds from this year's crop. I have just picked the pepper I wish to use and I wonder what the process is. With tomatoes, I let the seeds ferment to get rid of the gel and to kill "bad" bacteria. Is there any parallel process for peppers or do I just let the seeds dry?
