Name That Rose!

Pink rose

Anybody know what this is? It grows on a rather compact bush, about 24" tall and wide. It's was planted in the 1940s at the very latest, so it's definitely not a new cultivar. It's growing next to a white climbing rose (though it doesn't have anything to climb on) planted around the same time. My best guess for the white is a sombreuil, but I'm certainly no expert. Any guesses for either?

Well I am certainly no expert either. I don't have any idea what the pink one is, but I've looked at alot of pictures of roses, and the white one to me looks like pictures I've seen of Madame Hardy. I could be way off as I've never seen it in person but it always stuck in my mind because I thought it was such a pretty rose.

I think you're right. I was hoping that it was a climber so I could train it over an arbor, but I certainly can't complain about this beautiful established rose!
