More info please. what is the size of the blooms? Is it fragrant? how many thorns? How large is the plant? It looks like it might be Joseph's Coat or maybe Rainbow's End, but they have small blooms.

Hi Diane, Thanks for responding. The plant was only about 12" off the ground, not really bushy at all, had thorns about every inch and only produced 2 blooms. Seemed quite spindly to me. I made sure to mulch it with peat moss & leaves. This year I only got 1 branch and very tiny at that. Think I will dig it up.

I know of at least two other roses sold by WalMart that can "look a lot like" Climbing Joseph's Coat. One is Climbiing Pinata, and the other is Circus.

One identity-characteristic I know for certain about Climbing Joseph's Coat is that its blooms tend to go from just-opening to wide-open VERY fast (like, within 48 hours at the most, and sometimes in just 24 hours).

Climbing pinata is my guess as well-I recently purchased one from Wal-Mart myself-here are some pictures to help you identify:

According to the information I've gathered on climbing pinata, it is a slow grower for a climber-which may explain why yours is still very small.

I've seen dozens of Climbing Pinata's at Walmart the last several years. Seems likely.

Yes, it looks just like the mini rose Charisma that I bought at Wal-mart this year.

I have a Charisma. I don't think it is the identity of SilverFlower3's rose - because the petal-count is waaay off from hers. Charisma's average petal-count per bloom is 40-50. Also, Charisma's multitude of small petals tends to result in a "pompon" bloom-form when fully open. You'll see what I mean about the petal-count (and bloom-form) if you look at the 18 photos of Charisma's blooms at HelpMeFind/roses dotcom.
