Oh, and if it helps, this rose has rather spready, arching 2' canes with thin thorns. Something is making buds wither on a nearby (actually touching) rose, but this rose hasn't been affected at all.

I have not seen a knockout rose that red, but not sure. Mine is almost fluorescent at times.

I don't think it's Knockout...too many petals and too red.

Joyce, it's just about 15 petals. From Florida_Rose's picture, that IS too many to be Knockout.

It doesn't look like any Knockout I have seen. There are some new double ones, but I doubt any are that red-red. Knockouts are flatter blooms, with fewer petals.

It really is quite pretty, smells nice, and the thrips haven't eaten it alive like they did the pink rose next to it. I kind of like it. I've noticed it in a few other nearby yards too-- maybe I should start knocking on doors and asking if anyone knows the name. *G*
