I grow both of those roses in my yard. Mr. Lincoln's petals don't "quill" and Oklahoma's do, so of the two choices you gave us, it's gotta be Oklahoma.

I remember that vase photo well. We all decided it was Oklahoma on the original post.

my bareroot ML I planted in January is a VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRry slow grower, I have only gotten 1 rose from it all year, I think it's in a bad place, I bought another and hope that one will do better, when I bought the second ML it looked pink.... but it had those white stripes in some of the petals and I see that a lot on those. I was telling my sister how beautiful the roses in the vase were when I cut them at my bosses house, well she finally knows now what I mean about the rich fragrance of the Oklahoma rose, wow what a sniffer. She is now looking frantically for a bush. I noticed that ML, Oklahoma and Papa Meilland all have the same parents, Chrysler Imperial X Charles Mallerin. I was real surprised to read that. No wonder there are so many similarities in all of them.

Yep - common genes in them all, with Crimson Glory (red smell) and Charlotte Armstrong (tall canes, great substance) as the GrandParents of all of them.

Be patient about Abe. He is never an explosion of blooms or growth. Most typically, he will sit for a year or so, then put up a basal bigger than a broomstick - like its been blown out of a cannon. Then he'll go back to sleep again. After he's got a few years on him, he will reliably put out a regular, repeating flush of a half-dozen blooms or more, with onesies and twosies mixed inbetween.

Here is a picture taken this week from the same rose bush as the red roses in the first posting. They look a little different in warmer weather I think.
