For the Ladies `

I keep hearing how eating hot peppers is such a macho thing but I am a female and see nothing macho about it, I just love hot peppers! I'm interested in knowing how many ladies are on this forum. I'd like to know that I'm not totally weird. Let's hear it for the Ladies!

At least 2 because we traded seeds. They both had fiery peppers too. One had chocolate habs and one had white habs.

I don't think it's so much a macho thing. We call it gnarly here, and there's plenty of gnarly ladies. Just like seeing a really good surfer girl.

    Pepper lover chick here. :)

Always have been, since I was a little girl.

Hey HabBob, check your messages(inbox), I sent you one last week about the purple serranos.

My wife won't eat any kind of hot pepper or spicy foods but a lady I work with eats Habs & Ghost peppers like they were candy. She told me that if someone wanted to date her that they HAD to like spicy foods. I'll take her a bag of different peppers and she is just like a kid in a candy store, she can't decide which one to eat first. She said she took a Ghost pepper into McDonalds one morning to have with her breakfast. Don't worry, your not weird.

Well, I'm on the forum and love growing the hot and not so hot peppers (including bhut jolokia).....but I'm not eating alot of any of the hot ones. I am, however, eating more of them than I used to and also eating more of the hot ones than my husband is.

Just curious, did you hot chile lovers grow up with others who enjoyed the heat? I never remember any relative eating anything with any heat. Could that be what set me behind :)

Asian girl here. grew up eating hot stuff! yummy!

Hot peppers started off as a hobby, turned into an obsession. Now we grow many, ever expanding amount. I keep my wuss status but I am getting more adventuresome on eating hotter peppers. I like hot for flavor not knock your head off heat. We make several kinds of salsa and hot sauce. Hot peppers is not for guys only.

I also enjoy hot peppers. I like making salsa or adding some zip to a pasta dish and of course chili! I did grow Naga Jolokias this summer and did not like them. They are just all burn - no fun. I do like growing and trying peppers of various heats to see what I like. I came up with a couple new favorites this past summer.

I'm the "spicy" one in the family. LOL! Neither my parents or my sister like really hot food, although my sister likes hotter food since she turned vegetarian. I also like hotter food than my husband.

I've been growing chile peppers for years and years. I once won a jalapeno eating contest when I was in college during the Jurassic. Everything tastes better with chiles in it.

    One more here.
Lately when I'm cooking it seems like everything could be better with chili pepppers. Last year I canned 32 jars of hot sauce of varying intensity, that the bf won't even try. He complains because the dilly beans have a tiny bit of cayenne in them. [sigh] otw - he's very manly, very macho!

I am a chile lover and my friends joke that I have asbestos mouth. I know my limits though! I have a guy friend that will out right admit that he can't even do Texas Pete. I'm making a batch of salsa tonight with a Bhut Jolokia and we shall see how it tastes!

Check out the pepper head in this link! It's totally clean.

I didn't get into eating hot peppers until the early 90's, I think, the first time I ate jalapeno potato chips(Tim's Cascade), and I was hooked. I haven't worked up to the scorchers yet, just medium hots. This year I grew jals, cayennes, and lemon drops.
My DH is a big strapping Scandinavian, and can't tolerate the heat at all, LOL. I have to buy or make mild salsa and add extra chilies to my serving. I'm still working on him, though!
My first memory of liking the heat(when I was about 8 years old), was hot Chinese mustard(with BBQ pork)when our family would dine at the local Chinese restaurant. I always had to have it! It absolutely killed me, but I kept asking for it!

Another "hottie" here...my husband likes some heat but does not hold a candle to me. I have taken much "heat" through the years from my family and friends...my cooking has fire to say the least. Hot Peppers mean Happiness...the hotter the pepper, the happier one will be!!! LOL!!

I'm in a much cooler climate (Calgary Alberta Canada) and found out by pure accident that I can grow hot peppers quite successfully here. I just love them....they're defiitely not just for the guys.

As an aside, I started buying hotter varieties this year as my 71 year old mother complained the ones I grew this year were not hot enough :)
