I have a volunteer rose growing in the garden and with all the rain, it has sent out a couple of long shoots with seven leaves, the remainder of the plant is 5 leaves, which is about 5 inches tall total. I keep cutting off the seven-leaved shoots, will this encourage it to NOT be wild? Or is there something else to do? I'm pretty sure it's a start of a rose very close to it called "Nearly Wild," but I still want it to be OK - I'll plant it somewhere else.
