There are many ways to do it depending on what you like. I use copper tags that twist tie right on to the rose with PTouch labels on the with the names. Some people just use markers stuck in the ground next to the rose. Some people just leave the tags that come with the rose on them. As for marking the labeler has worked well for me and has lasted many seasons. No marking pens hold up more than a year or so. A soft pencil lead seems to hold up almost indefinitely though.
