when the pods are ripe they should begin to split open and display the red fleshy seeds---you may plant the seeds then (might help to clean off the fleshy coating to get down to the real seeds first).

It could take up to a year for the fruits to ripen and turn bright red (golden in case of yellow clivia), so be patient! Once they are ripe, remove the fleshy pulp to reveal the pearl-like seed. It is best to sow the seeds fresh. Sow into deep seed trays by pressing the seed so that it is flush with the soil. Do not cover the seed. Use a well-drained sterilized seedling mix. Keep the soil moist (not wet) until germination after 4-6 weeks (more patience!). Remember to wash your hands well after handling the fruit and seeds as they are reportedly toxic.
