As far as I know, S. officinalis 'Aurea' is much smaller and more compact than S. officinalis 'Icterina'. The leaves of 'Aurea' are almost completely golden in colour, whereas those of 'Icterina' are lime grenn with gold markings. I have not seen either in flower.

Unfortunately, many nurseries don't know the difference and interchange the names. I have seen several S.'Icterina' labeled as 'Aurea'. They are easy to tell apart as you can tell from Robin's description.
