Hi all . . . After several years of letting my Sans collection languish, my brother Mike (also a participant here) and a friend Joe F. spurred me to start acquiring a few Sans for my modest Cactus and Succulent collection. My Sans collection is now about 20 plants and I learn somthing new about them almost every day. At this point I don't have a favorite, but my S.parva looks pretty good to me. And it put up two flower stalks about a month ago - I didn't know they had a scent then - sigh. Last week I visited a C&S nursery near Vista, CA and picked up a S.mason/congo, a S.mason'congo variegate, a kirkii var kirkii superclone, and a kirkii pulcha"copper form". All four plants looked a little stressed and the manager, Rita, agreed, blaming the unusual hot weather here in Southern California. All my Sans are potted and under an Avocado tree that creates pretty dense shade. The older plants don't seem to mind the shade, but we'll see. I water at least weekly now, but typically only about 1/2 cup of water with a very dilute solution of Miracle Grow. Is there a way to look at a plant and see whether it needs water?

As soon as I learn how ro reduce the file size of my photos, I'd like to post them here.
