Yes, a frosted off Blue Ensign spent the winter on a coldish porch. About 4 weeks ago it went under lights in the basement and some of the growth is now tall enough for cuttings. Guaranitica seems perfect for this kind of treatment. A Waverly brought in 2 weeks ago shows no signs of life. It will get its space a little longer.

Wardda, lift the plant out of the pot and check the color of the root system for new growth. If the roots are all the color of the soil, it is likely dead, but not certainly. Medium brown roots may still be viable.

If you smell vegetable rot, the plant is gone.

When I kept it in the plastic last year, I didn't remove the dirt. Yesterday, I looked at it and I saw earthworm on top. I'm worried that the tuber/rhizome is gone. I'm tempted to remove the dirt. I wish I knew how to properly overwinter them.
