Do you have a photo of it? I have a not very good picture of S. sagittata on page 4 of my site. It is a lovely Salvia, though over here, the lower leaves can get ragged and untidy. However, the flowers are small, but heavenly!

Central Coast Growers (now closed) had an unidentified sage from Ecuador with small blue-violet flowers. I think it was collected by Gary Hammer of Glendale Paradise Nursery near Los Angeles.

Other Ecuadoran sages include S. corrugata with blue tubular flowers, S. hirtella with scarlet flowers, and S. sprucei with fuchsia flowers.

I wonder if Salvia rumicifolia could be involved! This has been considered to be just a "form" of Salvia sagittata....foliage seems the same, though smaller. Flowers are not the pure blue of sagittata, they are identical in form, but they are violet, with a white mark on the lower lip. The whole plant is much more compact than sagittata.
