Victoria Blue is a variety of farinacea, on the small side. I can't say for sure but would guess that Blue Victoria and Victoria Blue are the same. There is also a Victoria White.

Victoria Blue came back for me last year in Virginia. I will have to take a look to see if it came back this year. I planted mine too close to Salvia Coccinea 'Lady in Red' and 'Lady in Red' took control.

I would think your climate would be similar to mine - I am in Newport News, VA and we are zone 7b. Most of the salvias I started this year will hopefully be perennial.

Thanks ramazz, I do appreciate your response. I have become interested in salvias and am trying to learn about them and what will do well in my area. I bought a tray of Blue Victoria...hopefully, it will come back next year, but it was sold at the nursery as an annual. I have Rhea Blue that has come back for several years, and it is also sold an an annual here.

Today I potted up some seedlings of s. farinacea and patens. I have never grown anything from seed, so I am like a little kid having a party. It will be interesting to see if they grow andif I can get them in the garden this spring.

I am on the line between zones 7b & 8a. Salvia farinacea 'Victoria' does not return for me in my garden. I replant it late each spring as an annual.

Hi, neighbors! I have grown Victoria Salvia for years and years. Can't say for absolute certain, but it does seem to me that if I do NOT cut it back at all in the fall and let it stand all winter, it is way more likely to come back in the spring. If I cut it back even a little bit, I will have almost none return.

Thanks donnabaskets, I will make sure to leave my Victoria standing this winter. Your location sounds like Bulldog country; I'm up in Rebel territory. It's a small world after all.
