Variations in leaf color in S. greggii seedlings predictive?

Can anyone tell me if there is anything predictive about variations in leaf color among S. greggii seedlings? I sowed seeds collected from a peach S. greggii, all in the same container on the same day, and the resulting plants seem to have a good deal of variation in color from mid-green to very dark green that almost appears black. I have not seen this phenomenon in containers of other S. greggii I sowed at the same time and that are being grown in the same conditions.

Does seedling leaf color relate to any other characteristics (hardiness, color, habit, etc) that might inform the selection of seedlings to pot on?

Thank you,

Alana
