My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
It doesn't look like my Salvia indigo spires had survived our frost... it recovered, then snails mowed it down, so I went out and got another, since it just doesn't seem to be coming back and other peoples' are going strong. :(
I also got two more, a Salvia viscosa and a Salvia interrupta... very excited about those! :o) never heard of them before, course there are so many that I kind of get lost in all the salvias.
There are pictures of both in Robin's salvia gallery, the first from the Mideast, the second from N. Africa.
There are sooooo many species, then the hybrids, that I can't imagine ever growing even a significant fraction of them all. I want to try S. starlight next, the hybrid between S. apiana and mellifera
How exciting, Heathen! Where did you get those Salvias, btw? I need some more excitement in my life. :)
I bought the 'Starlight' for my mom a few years back, Dicot. But I haven't been able to find it since to get one for myself! Very beautiful and EASY. And the scent is so wonderful!
Brenda, Suncrest Nurseries, a wholesale grower, grows S. Starlight. Check with you local nurseries to see if they carry Suncrest's plants. If they do, they may be able to special order it for you. If you're ever in the San Jose Area, we have a couple of gallons at the nursery (Payless...NOT connected with the drugstore chain!)
Also, check Las Pilitas website. They may have it.
Thanks for the tips, ladies! And Heathen, is he the one mentioned on sacramentogardening.com as the upcoming April 7th sale behind The Gifted Gardener? If so, I may have to change my plans for this weekend...especially if Salvias are involved. :D
It doesn't look like Las Pilitas has it, Wanda, but there are several nurseries in the greater Sac area which carry their plants. Keeping my fingers crossed. :)
yes, that's him! Bob Hamm! :) He won't let me volunteer since he's moved. :o( But you might see me at the plant sales, he'll let me volunteer there.... and I get plants at a discount! Most of my garden is from him. :D You generally can't miss me... you see some tattoos... that's me! I am generally known as Robyn in my alternate reality.
