We bought a fixer upper smack in the middle of Hattaras Island. I spent a year digging up ground cacti and burr grass now it is time to consider landscaping the yard which appears to be almost pure sand. I am willing to work organic matter into all the garden beds but even with the compost in the soil the soil will be very lean. I am looking for suggestions of what to plant beyond Pampass Grass which is everywhere. I could use some shrubs trees herbs and grasses ( including lawn grass). I would love to plant some edibles and have heard that figs do well there, does anyone know if that is true? Thanks for any suggestions
