I would think it would be just fine now. I pulled a few monarda heads off a week or so ago, and still need to see if there are any seeds in them, but with Marigolds and Zinnias, it should be easy to see/tell the seeds for sure yet.

I first stumbled onto the seed exchange about this time a few years ago, I found all kinds of things in the garden that were still ready to harvest. Take bags with you and snip the seedheads over them because this late in the season the seeds will be dispersed at the slightest touch. Have fun!

Thanks for the replies. I certainly will do this, and I realize that I have to be extra careful. I may end up with nothing viable. For sure, though, I am not going to do it with the wind chill below zero, okay? Thanks again - Barb

Ive been picking rosehips here and there and doing the wintersowing thing with them. You lose nothing by trying, right? And maybe gain some plants.
