I don't think this is S. trif nelsonii. My plant is completely plain green with no crossbanding whatsoever.

Thanks kniphofia. I received a suggestion that it may be sans parva. What do you think?

Kim

I'm so jealous, kjtessanne! I wish my local nursery would sell Sans like yours. I get the same ole' Moonshine. I am trading a parva with another collector and I'll give you my opinion once I receive it if no one answers you by then.

IDing plants from photos is risky business, but J. Chahinian's book on trifasciatas pictures a S. trifasciata 'Nelsoni' as plain apple green - no markings. IMHO yours looks more like a S parva,. Parva have about 6 leaves per cluster about a foot in length. They also have 1/4" rhizomes that lie on or just above the surface. Mine are covered by a grayish brown scales.

J. Chahinian is coming out with a new book available next week. I can't wait. What page is it on please, I can't find it. I think I have mine identified incorrectly.

Watch the plant for a while, often the leaves change with each batch of new leaves. I thought that species/hybrid grows with fewer leaves that grow straight up, vase form.?
