It kind of reminds me of pineapple sage salvia elegans

I think it is not pinneaple sage because it the leaves were glabrous not fuzzy like S.elegans and the flowers much larger (this is not obvious in the pic though)

I have s. tubifera, though the leaves on mine are not as long as the ones in the picture. I'm growing mine in a pot so it's still small. Anyone have a picture of s. cinnabarina to compare? I think it's more available on the West Coast, also on my wish list.

My tubifera has leaves that are fuzzy and the shape is somewhat deltoid with a base more truncate than cordate. It's new in the garden so hasn't flowered yet. I think Helena's suggestion of S cinnabarina brilliant - though I haven't seen that one up close and personal.
I have seen something very similar to your pic at our salvia society's exhibit garden but no one knew what it was. I'll be seeing them next week and ask again. Hopefully someone will come up with an answer before then.

This definitely looks like Salvia cinnabarina. From the image, it is hard to separate from S. elegans.
