You can simply scatter them in your garden and they will usually come up with a few weeks. A couple of species (which I can't recall) require stratification, which means if you scatter them, they just wont germinate until after winter.

Well, I have several of them, and am hoping to keep some of the seeds for a trade. I tried them this year, and liked them, but they bloomed a little to quick for me. My hummingbirds didn't come until after they bloomed! My intent is to hold onto some of the seeds, and hopefully trade some for something new to grow! Thanks, Christy

Okay, so I went and dumped the seeds into a baggie. Can I just store them in a cool, dry place until I am ready to trade them or to plant them? And, how will I know for sure that they will germinate? Thanks, Christy

I just read you can save seed for a few years in paper.
This got me wondering because a few people sent seed to me in plastic and not too much germinated. Read the winter sowing forum, maybe you will decide to try that.

Don't seal them in plastic until they have "dried" in paper for a couple weeks...

Definitely try the winter sowing forum...I had so many Columbines germinate, I don't know where I am going to put them all...
