As I was walking(actually taking a detour) through Lowe's greenhouse, of course I had to check out the plants. Tucked way in the back, sort of out of sight, were two sans. Since these are one of my favorites types of plants I had to take a closer peek. So after climbing over hoses, ladders, boxes and some other plants(they are getting in Christmas stuff already) I was able to get a better look. One of the plants had yellow edges(6" pot) and numerous offsets.. The height was approximately 15 inches, so I just had to get it. I believe it is S. t Laurentii and it appears in pretty good condition. Some of the leaves are twisting slightly, maybe from being jammed in between a lot of other plants. There doesn't seem to be any rot that I could tell, but I'm going to repot it shortly. The best part of the deal came at checkout. It was on sale and I got it for $3.62!!

What a great day!!!

Marguerite, the other one was the regular sansevieria trifasciata. It was the same height but did not have the yellow edges. Last evening a neighbor stopped in so I didn't get a chance to repot my purchase. I want to take a look at two offsets(I am assuming that is what they are) that appear to be twisting. They are most attractive. And I noticed that one of the other offsets has a very fine yellow edge, not as pronounced as the others. I am new to sans and trying to learn as much as I can, and this forum has a lot of knowledgable growers.

I did purchase the book "The Sansevieria Trifasciata Varieties" by B. Juan Chahinian and it is helping immensely with descriptions. Anyway, it is fun and I am happy with my purchase.

I just noticed in the book mentioned above that there is a S. t. Laurentii "Stripe and Twist" which is a direct descendant from Laurentii. It further goes on to say that it may not be a desirable variety due to the twisting. The leaves may develop stresses on the leaf surface which in time produce cuts on the leaf edges giving an unsightly appearance. Hmmm, maybe the 2 offset showing this quality will be potted separately from the others so as not to ruin the beauty of the remaining plants. Has anyone had this cultivar? I'd be interested in your opinion. Of course there is "Twisted Sister" which I think I read comes from Futura. Does it have this problem too???

Just curious and thanks.
