You might think about Japanese Morning Glories (Ipomoea nil)....they don't reseed like the others do....(Ipomoea purpurea or Ipomoea tricolor).....

Yes, the standards can be quite agressive...and their seed can remain viable for up to 50 years.

I think no matter what your zone they are invasive and yes go with japanese morning glories like webkat5 said. This year we have so many wild morning glories coming up and choking all our plants. They are all whites and I have never seen wild morning glories till this year so I am wondering were they all came from. Probably brought here from someone.

Hi, we just moved to a new house and the neighbor behind us has wild morning glories - they climb over the fence, into the plants and into the lawn even! You can dig them out one day and they'll be back the next - any ideas on how to get rid of them?? Kathy

Creeping jenny or field bindweed is sometimes called wild morning glory. It tends to have all white or white with pink tinged flowers, smaller than regular morning glories. So if yours are all white and very invasive, could that be the problem? Those things are trouble, the roots can be over 20 feet long!

Yes, morning glories reseed themselves. But I grew a ton of morning glories the past three years in WI, and only had a few volunteers each year, so I think the problem is overstated, at least in my zone. And I do let mine all go to seed. There are lots of weeds that resemble morning glories, and I think that gives them a bad name. I was growing both fuchsia and blue morning glories for a few years, and this year my best volunteer is the most glorious purple, so they finally bred together. Don't be afraid, if they are really morning glories they are easy to pull out.

digsdahlias, that vine you mentioned is field bindweed, not morning glory. I haven't seen any invasive morning glories here. However, the bindweed is indeed impossible to deal with!

I am south of you, in Oregon (Albany area) and grow quite a few MG's. They do not seem invasive here. I also have hedge bindweed in places on my 10 acres and it seems to behave itself and not spread too much. I actually like the bindweed and its white MG type flowers.
