Salvia lyrata, I have no idea where you can get it. I bought one three years ago at Bowman's wildflower preserve I know you have a place callled mt cuba something that studies native plants. salvia azurea isn't native to Delaware or Pennsylvania or New Jersey but it is hardy and the hummers love it. Like Sarah, the only one I've ever heard of the lyrata. There has been some very good work done by native plant people in Delaware. I have a smooth aster called "Bluebird?" that was originally collected in the Diamond State; it's a real beauty. If you check the High Country Gardens web site you'll find a switch grass collected in coastal Delaware. There are certainly others.

I have Salvia lyrata "Knock Out", a nice purple leaved species that doesn't have much of a flower, foliage is great tho...tends to spread about the garden on its own more than I care see happen.

A native Penstemon that is happy in Delaware is Penstemon smallii. It is a real winner after a couple years of establishment.

Salvia azurea is perennial here, as is Salvia koyamae, S. nipponica, and S. greggii "Diana". I have a report that S. evansiana is also hardy here, which really is fantastic. I have S. napifolia that is winter hardy in my garden, that is very very attractive to bees and to small butterflies.

Thank You! This is all good to know. I will see what I can do to get some seeds or perhaps some seedlings in Spring? Not sure how to obtain it yet.
