Hay Newb, I'm pretty new myself. Been in plants most of my life thro. My biggest problem is names. They seem to change from nursery to nursery. You can get some very good sans from local stores. I found some great deals at Lowe's and Wal-marts and Giant Eagle. But the most exotic ones I have to mail order. But remember we are in this to have fun. Enjoy!!

The amazing thing is that even at common stores like Lowes and Home Depot, I have found plants that have sported in a clump of the most common of things.
A local Loes sells a Sans. zeylanica (totally incorrect name for the plant they are selling) but one day I found a reverse pattern with slight gold margins in aclump of "zeylanica's" and the whole pot was sold for $9.99 (8 inch pot). After removing this pup, guess what? the same pot made two more shoots and both were also reverse stripe and with more gold margins.
I am planning to dissect this pot and give each plant its own pot to divide and who knows what it might do next.

Can't tell what area of the country you live in, but if you're near any cities, perhaps look for local chapters of Cactus & Succulent Society, or Indoor Gardening Society (of America).

Since I'm in NYC, I'm fortunate to have both & have benefited greatly & gotten some GREAT plants from these groups &/or the friends I've made through them.

I just posted a new post. I too was at Lowe's and found a great deal. Living here in Pittsburgh, Pa. I am all alone in Sanseviers. No one I know is into them. Nobody wants them. I can't split up my overcrowded pots because I don't know what to do with the extras. Keeping them indoors for 7 months out of the year, is probadly why. Make no mistake this is a addiction just as drinking or smoking or drugs. I am hooked.
