if you showed us an adult plant and a flower stalk, then it would maybe be possible to more than guess. So far, it is said to be a form of S. kirkii.

If that is true remains to be seen. For my two cent's worth, I find the leaves rather thick, the edges rather wavy and the markings rather regular for a S. kirkii. Let us hope that the genus has still more surprises in store.

Thank you, I do not have the sansevieria journal, I must buy the whole set at some point in the near future, it seems to be THE place to find information about these plants!

I sent a message to Alan Butler, and he thinks the ID of this plant as 'Silver Blue' is correct. It remains to be seen if this plant is related to S. kirkii or not. It is exactly for this reason that I am using the cultivar name only, and not the species name kirkii.

I grew this plant from a leaf cutting I got three years ago from a friend. The only note that came with the leaf was "this is a nice cultivar". It had no name. I got two offsets from that leaf, the plant in the picture is the biggest one. It is still juvenile, but I find it beautiful! The leaves are indeed quite thick, and seem different from the S. kirkii forms that I have (var. pulchra and var. pulchra 'Coppertone').

I hope to grow this plant to maturity in a few years. It is not the fastest Sansevieria, but perhaps it will pick up the pace as it grows bigger and offsets. I will use one of my two plants for propagation, the other one will just be repotted in larger containers as it grows, without being divided. This way it can grow big, and start to show its mature features.
