Verbena are small brown slivers that shake loose from the flower as it starts to turn brown.

Amaranthus Hot Biscuits are small tan balls that also shake loose from the drying seed head.

Strawflowers are like dandelions with grey/brown pegs with fluffy tops.

Impatiens balsam are touch me nots. They form green/yellow pods along the stalk. When they pods are ready, if you just touch them they explode and brown balls go flying.

All these plants direct sow quite well and all are wonderful candidates for winter sowing.
