My question is ,are all hybrids a no go when saving?
There are some things that will grow to look just like, or near the mother plant, from saved hybrid seeds, Purple Majesty millet being one of them, per the link below.

Some hybrid tomatoes are said to come true (or nearly true) from saved seeds. I would not save them myself though as there are so many wonderful varieties (maybe about 12,000) that I would just as soon plant and try a named variety, whether it was hybrid (commercial seed only) or not.

Saved seeds from daylilies, irises, and daffodils, might produce something wonderful....or not. One just never knows.

The first question is what are you saving for and the second is hybridized for what. As I recall, without going and looking it up - I may be all washed out, AAADD, Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder you know - , Mendel's wrinkled and unwrnkled peas produced a 3:1 ratio of dominant genes in the F2 generation which isn't too bad if you are saving for the dominant phenotype but not too good if you are saving for the recessive phenotype.

In my experience most saved hybrid seed will not produce the exact copy of the original plant. Even if it looks like it it may not have the vigor or bloom size or plant size or whatever that plant was hybridized to be.

I did save seed as a newbie, but soon gave up the practice in favor of getting exactly what I wanted.

Yes, but remember that the offspring may vary if there are other varieties nearby ... near means 500+ feet or more for some plants.

Chilis, for example, cross-pollinate easily, so if you save "Mom's Mild Poblano", the bees may have given you the off spring of Mom's Mild and the neighbor's ultra-hot one from India.

I started a market garden this past spring and spent $700.00 on seed , yes I went a bit overboard, I wanted to see what did well, so I wanted to start saving seed, but I can see I won't be able to do that due to lack of space. I do grow a lot of peppers. Same with tomatoes. It's kinda what I thought just wanted to check.Thanks to all.

If you want your seed to remain pure, assuming it is an open pollinated variety, you can bag the buds before they open.

Isolation (bags, covers, distance) is essential with peppers, squash, and others. Otherwise the seed won't come true - you'll get hybrids of the different kinds you're growing.
