Black gold has the following characteristics (taken from, 'The Sansevieria Trifasciata Varieties', by Juan Chahinian, 1986.)

:
width of leaves not as uniform as they are on the type (common trifasciata)
leaves sometimes have a wavy appearance
very dark green in color with lighter gray bands

I would say 4.5 feet is tall for this variety, although if grown inside the leaves might get longer than if given full light.

Thanks for the info. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but we drove to Denver for Thanksgiving and got caught by snow storms and were unable to come home until this weekend.
