I was thinking the same thing, as far as I know the 'Raspberry truffle is a cross between gesneriiflora and
madrensis, so with one of the parents in common then
it makes sense about the colouring, it is stunning, my
fave for the day....

I thought Raspberry Truffle as a cross between gesneriiflora x mexicana. Whatever, it is stunning the flowers are breathtaking. If only the plant was not such a monster!

Robin is right. Andy Maycen of San Diego, now of Hawaii near Hilo, is the discoverer of Raspberry Truffle.

It must be as it has just come into bud, the red form of the cross is the winter flowering one, the purple was crossed
with purple splendens and the red with the red spendens.
