I think they have to be, at least if they were ripe already. (provided it isn't a tropical that can't take cold at all) Since we winter sow a lot of seeds anyway, I'm figuring they can take that chill before they're sown too.

Ok, well I asked cause I am going to start taking that leadwort apart and see if anything germinates. We had our first frost sunday and its been doing that every night since. Temps are starting to warm back up, so I am going to keep my fingers crossed.

As Kilngod said, if they are ripe, they will be fine. BUT this also applies to tropicals too. Frost only kills tropical plants, not their seeds. If you think about it many plants we grow are tropical, but will self sow if we let them from tomatoes to salvias, etc.
The only tropical seeds affected by frost would be seeds that need to stay moist for germination like citrus seed.
